Connected But Alone?

This video talks about how technology while keeping us connected is also keeping us apart.
In the video there are many examples thrown and it tries to sells us this idea.  One example that really made sense to me was the one where Sherry tells us about the "Goldie Locks effect" and how people manage the amounts and distance of contact they have with other people. This way people can have things just as they want, and this gives space to loosing what makes the self. How? well if you do not interact with people in real life you start loosing the ability to socialize and have real conversations this is a big deal because even if you can talk with someone by texting it changes the whole thing. For example when you are texting you can ask people what to write or you might go through several ideas before choosing one to send unlike in a real conversation in which you might say what first comes to mind. People can now portray themselves as they want to be and not as much as they are, this might sound good but overall it just creates fake people who do not have a real perception of the self. Or so this talk leads us to understand.

  1. I like how you said "Fake people" because at the end that's what we become by showing two differents sides of us in real live and behind our phones.
